The history of the conveyor dates back to the late seventeenth century when it was first introduced to the transportation sector for transferring materials in bulk from one area to another. Those days all a conveyor belt system had was a flat wooden surface wrapped up by a belt made of rubber, canvas or leather. It was solely used for the purpose of conveying heavy loads; however, with the change of times in the twentieth century conveyors widened their applications and evolved to become an integral part of human necessity. The business of conveyor first came to limelight in the beginning of the eighteenth century with the invention of the roller conveyor that powered the automotive industry.

The 1920s marked the beginning of changes in the conveyor business with the application of conveyor belts in the mines to facilitate smoother coal runs. The second world wars flagged another turning point in the evolution of conveyors as the vast scarcity of natural raw materials like rubber; cotton on canvas led to the manufacture of synthetic conveyor. With increase in demand or rather misbalance of the demand/ supply ratio of conveyor market, several other materials like synthetic polymers or fabrics began to be used in the making of conveyors, eventually reaching to the point where we stand today with a wide array of choice of conveyors lying for the benefit of the consumers.
